How much greenhouse gas is emitted in Europe and in France?

In 2020, 3.1 Gt CO₂ eq of GHG were emitted in the EU, a 34% decrease compared to 1990. The first emitting sector is the energy industry. On the French territory, net emissions (including LULUCF) amounted to 379 Mt CO₂ eq in 2020, down by 27% compared to 1990 and by 10% compared to 2019. However, estimates for 2021 (404 Mt CO₂ eq) indicate a near return to the 2019 level. The transport sector is the main contributor to French emissions.
