Part 4
How are GHG emissions distributed by sector in Europe and in France?
The French and European inventories provide a breakdown of GHG emissions by sector and sub-sector. In Europe and in France, the greatest emissions reductions since 1990 can be observed in the energy sectors, particularly the manufacturing industry, and to a lesser extent, in the residential and services sectors. The transport sector is the only one that has not seen a reduction in its emissions between 1990 and 2019, although the Covid-19 pandemic has caused a marked but likely cyclical drop in its emissions in 2020. LULUCF (see glossary) produces negative emissions, corresponding to a net sequestration of CO2 by biomass and soils.
