What is the level of the carbon footprint in the major regions of the world and in France?
The carbon footprint is used to estimate the GHG emissions related to French consumption, whether they are emitted on the national territory or emitted abroad to satisfy French demand. France's carbon footprint is significantly higher than emissions on the national territory alone: +45% in 2018. Half of the carbon footprint is imported. In 2021, France's carbon footprint is estimated at 604 Mt CO2 eq, or 8.9 tons of CO2 eq per inhabitant.
