What is climate change?

The climate balance is being disturbed primarily by greenhouse gas emissions (see glossary). The conclusions of the scientific community, summarized by the IPCC (see glossary), have led to a consensus on the role of human activities in this change.

Numerous indicators, such as rising temperatures at the Earth's surface and rising average sea levels, point to a change in climate since the last century. A selection of observations of this change and its consequences are presented, first on a global scale, then in France. This section also presents projections of the consequences of climate change according to different scenarios.
