Cela confirme le ralentissement de la hausse du prix de l'électricité par rapport à la période 2008-2015, durant laquelle il avait fortement augmenté. Même si l'écart tend à se réduire, les ménages français paient l'électricité moins cher, en moyenne, que les ménages des autres pays européens, en particulier ceux des autres grands pays d'Europe de l'Ouest. Le prix hors TVA pour les entreprises françaises rebondit de 1,1 % en 2017, après avoir baissé de 7,1 % en 2016. Les entreprises consommant les plus gros volumes bénéficient de prix sensiblement plus bas que les petits consommateurs et cet écart tend à s’accroître. Le prix de l’électricité pour les entreprises en France reste compétitif en Europe, notamment par rapport aux autres grands pays d’Europe de l’Ouest.

The price of electricity for French households increased by 0.8 % in 2017. This confirms a slowdown in the rise of the price of electricity in relation to the 2008-2015 period, during which it increased significantly. Even though the difference is getting smaller, French households pay less for electricity, on average, than households in other European countries, in particular compared to households in other large Western European countries. The VAT-exclusive price for French businesses bounced back in 2017, increasing 1.1%, after falling 7.1% in 2016. Businesses which use the most electricity can avail of much lower prices than consumers who use small amounts and this differential is tending to increase. The price of electricity for businesses in France continues to be competitive in Europe, in particular in relation to other large countries in Western Europe.
